First Nations Health & Social Secretariat of Manitoba

Shannon fulfilled her first field placement with First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba. Shannon was the co-coordinator for the Nibi Gathering hosted by FNHSSM. Her responsibilities included; meeting minutes, managing cater budgets, advertisement, and site repairs. Shannon showed true diligence during her time at FNHSSM. Prior to the event, she travelled to the Nibi site in Whiteshell to clean the site and repair the lodges. Half way through her field placement we transferred Shannon to join our Dual Research Project. Shannon attended a three day workshop where our organization and partners gathered to discuss the project’s final grant proposal. Following the workshop, Shannon collected the resources from the grant proposal and completed the final reference list. During her field placement, Shannon obtained various skills that would support her future endeavours and career. She adapted quickly and demonstrated great leadership skills and co-worker skills.
