Indigenomics Institute

Alex Oldroyd worked remotely with Carol Anne Hilton and the Indigenomics Institute on the Global Indigenomics Initiative and the 2020 10-to-Watch List. The Indigenomics Institute works with Indigenous nations and Indigenous-focused organizations, governments, and private industry in Canada to strengthen Indigenous economic capacity and achieve Indigenous economic and community objectives. Their Global Indigenomics Initiative seeks to expand their mission of Indigenous economic empowerment to Indigenous nations across the world.

Alex’s role was to prepare a database of the situation for Indigenous peoples globally by country, including potential partner organizations. He also helped prepare outreach materials for the first ever Global Indigenomics summit. In addition to working on the Global Initiative, Alex also prepared the Institute’s 2020 10-to-Watch List, a series of interviews and articles highlighting 10 remarkable Indigenous-focused organizations, initiatives, and innovators across Canada. The goal of the annual list is to demonstrate excellence, leadership, and committed action toward the growth of the Indigenous economy.
