The University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation

Silvina Antunes completed her field placement at the University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation (UWCRC) on a part-time basis during her last semester and then full-time in the Spring term. Her work was related to a visiting artists residence program that is intended to be implemented in a mixed-use, mixed-income development that is currently being constructed. Silvina's duties included compiling data and creating a report on based on a survey conducted with local arts organizations assessing their needs and desires surrounding visiting artists housing. She also contributed to the creation of a business case document outlining the opportunities and risks of implementing a project like this from financial, social, and cultural points of view. In addition to her work on the visiting artists residence program, she had the opportunity to attend meetings with Indigenous leaders from communities who wished to work on various development projects in partnership with UWCRC.

"All in all, it was an amazing placement where I was able to utilize skills I gained in the MDP program while learning and building new skills to carry with me into the future."
