Aliraza's field placement with the Immigration Partnership Winnipeg initiative at the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg (SPCW) focused on looking at the role of community organizations in fostering dialogue between Indigenous communities and Newcomers. The expected outcome of the on-going research project is to contribute towards the dialogue creation process. The project will report the various initiatives carried out by urban Indigenous organizations and community organizations serving Newcomers (immigrants and refugees) vis-à-vis the creation of safe space for dialogue between the two communities. Through interviews, information is being gathered on current dialogue initiatives, future initiatives, challenges, and the way forward.
