Daniel Nychuk

My name is Daniel Nychuk. I am a Métis man born the youngest of three siblings I grew up in rural Manitoba on a Family Farm. I just recently completed a Bachelor of Commerce Honors degree in Accounting and Finance from the Asper School of Business and will be beginning my Master's in Development Practice-Indigenous Development (MDP) in the Fall of 2022. I enjoy living an active lifestyle. I have played sports which include, hockey, soccer, basketball, and baseball with my favourite being hockey. I am still quite involved in hockey as I currently help coach my High School Hockey team.

I found out about the MDP program from my older sister. She is a recent graduate of the MDP program and while I was approaching the end of my Commerce degree, she explained to me all the great opportunities that come from the program. For me the thing that attracted me the most was the opportunity to use my commerce degree to bridge into Indigenous economic development through the Cando Economic Development Officer certification. Also getting the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom setting and providing me the opportunity to problem-solve, and work directly with community, will not only help me successfully contribute to my end goal in aiding in sustainable Indigenous development but aid in building capacity within Indigenous Communities.

I am honoured to be a part of the MDP program I hope to build a foundation of knowledge and relationships to add to my current education and skillset to help strengthen my understanding of what it takes to be an indigenous graduate level student both in and out of the classroom. I hope to create a large foundation of knowledge, relationships, and experience from the MDP program. I look forward to my future endeavours and time in the MDP program.
