Thu. Mar. 23, 2017

Dr. Gregg attends 6th Annual International Congress on Inclusive Sport - University of Almeria, Spain

Acting Chair, Dr. Melanie Gregg, was part of the 6th Annual Congress on Inclusive Sport taking place each March at the University of Almeria, on Spain's south-eastern coast. The Conference was presented in Spanish - with Dr. Gregg presenting through a translator on the topic: “Psychological Skills and Athletes with Intellectual Impairment: Lessons for Life on and off the Field.”

Dr. Gregg was among the presenters from different parts of Spain as well as Italy and Portugal.  The conference included both practical, hands-on workshops with experts as well as afternoon lectures and presentations. Topics ranged from health and exercise for older adults, wheel-chair basketball, bocce, the role of service animals and inclusive sport for persons with mental illnesses. For the first time this year, both the workshops and the formal presentations were simulcast on the web allowing the Conference to reach a much broader audience.  Here is a link to the Thursday, March 25th proceedings - the day of Dr. Gregg presentation:
