Wesmen Wrestlers at the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Olympus Exhibit

Pictured from Left: Finn Higgins, Kyle Nyugen and Wrestling Coach, Adrian Bruce, visit the Winnipeg Art Gallery as part of their involvement in the Sunday, Oct 4th “Games of Olympia" Family Day. Both men and women from the Wesmen Wrestling program and two young members of the Jr. Wesmen Wrestlers - all coached by Adrian Bruce - will demonstrate some modern techniques of the ancient sport of Wrestling at the WAG. Other UWinnipeg Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health Students will be helping the children try out modified versions of the discus and javelin throw, and the standing long-jump - which were also ancient Olympic sports. The event concludes with a mini-marathon around the WAG.  All young Olympians must first 'swear an oath to Zeus' and later have a chance to build their own victory shield with coaching by members of the WAG team.  For more information on the Olympus exhibit visit www.wag.ca
