CFP for Innovation and Technology in Teaching Undergraduate Human Geography.

2019 Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG)
University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg MB, May 27-31, 2019

Organized by: Theresa Garvin (University of Alberta), Anne Godlewska (Queen’s University) and Michael Mercier (McMaster University).

Sponsored by the Geographic Education Study Group

Proposals are invited from geographers interested in undergraduate education for a special session (or series of sessions) on innovation and utilizing technology in teaching undergraduate human geography.

University instructors are encouraged to adopt innovative teaching methods, incorporate new course content and adapt to students’ changing educational preferences. Recently these include course management systems (CMS), online and internet-based resources, as well as ever-developing assessment methods encouraged as part of ongoing course development. This session seeks to bring together instructors that have been adopting new teaching methods in human geography to compare and contrast approaches, as well as to examine the theoretical approaches and practical implications.

Papers are invited to address the following themes:

-          Key concepts, theories or ideas relevant to a 21st Century geography

-          Approaches to teaching human geography with technology

-          Field experiences in Human Geography

-          Incorporating TRC in Human Geography courses

-          Active, Blended and Online teaching experiences
