Music at UWinnipeg
There are three courses in Music currently offered at the University of Winnipeg. While no Music Major or Minor is currently available, these Music courses can be used as electives toward University of Winnipeg degrees. The three courses are the Choral Ensemble (Lux et Veritas Choir), the Instrumental Ensemble (Floreamus Wind Ensemble), and Music Appreciation. The courses are a collaboration between the Multidisciplinary Advisory Committee to the Vice-President Academic, the Department of Theatre and Film, and The University of Winnipeg Collegiate. The ensemble courses are designed to develop individual and ensemble music skills through rehearsals and performances of a wide variety of repertoire. The Music Appreciation course is designed to enhance students’ music knowledge and vocabulary through the development of listening, critical thinking, and writing skills in a variety of musical contexts. These courses are also a great way to meet new people on campus!
The Choral and Instrumental Ensembles are also available to community members to join as a non-credit participant for a yearly fee.
