Paying for University

The University of Winnipeg provides high-quality, affordable education. For students needing help with university costs, we offer many scholarships and bursaries for those who meet academic and other criteria. Government student loans and other financial aid may also be available for your student.

The Opportunity Fund, new to UWinnipeg and unique in Canada, offers tuition credits and bursaries for students who may not be able to afford tuition.

Student Services

Many students have questions as they transition into university life. You can help your student find both academic and personal support by being aware of the many available resources for students.

Student Safety and Campus Security

Campus security is a community-based service. Officers work closely with the Winnipeg Police Service and other agencies to provide a secure and safe environment for students. SafeWalk and SafeRide programs are available in Fall and Winter.

Student Housing

The University of Winnipeg offers these student housing options close to the main campus: dorm-style residences, furnished or unfurnished bachelor and one-bedroom suites, and family-style student houses. Residence living provides a measure of independence within the support of a community.

International students have the additional option to experience Canadian life and culture by living with a host family in the 'HomeStay' program.

Parent Orientation and Campus Tours

A comprehensive parent orientation takes place twice a year. You may also schedule a campus tour for soon-to-be university students, their family and friends. (Call 204.786.9844 for campus tour; please book one week in advance.)
