Our Vision
Helping Youth Dream Big

The Opportunity Fund is an initiative created by The University of Winnipeg in 2007 to help make it possible for Aboriginal, refugee and immigrant, and inner-city students in need to dream big. The Opportunity Fund is about action, itís about investing in real dreams so that as a community, we see real results. Itís about bridging the graduation gap and itís about transforming lives.

The Opportunity Fund Ė which is unique among Canadian universities Ė comes as a direct result of the University's Access Task Force on Post-Secondary Education, which was initiated by UWinnipeg President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lloyd Axworthy.

The goal of the University is to build a $10-million endowment fund that will help ensure that everyone, regardless of background and socio-economic status, has access to higher education and opportunities. The fund includes tuition credits and fast-track bursaries for students and tuition waivers for youth raised in the child welfare system.
