Helping Youth Dream Big

The Opportunity Fund is a new initiative created by The University of Winnipeg to help make it possible for youth to dream big. The Opportunity Fund is about action, it’s about investing in real dreams so that as a community, we see real results. It’s about bridging the graduation gap and it’s about transforming lives.

The Opportunity Fund – which is unique among Canadian universities – comes as a direct result of the Access Task Force on Post-Secondary Education, which was commissioned by UWinnipeg President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lloyd Axworthy.

The goal of the university is to build a $10-million endowment fund that will help ensure that everyone, regardless of background and socio-economic status, has access to higher education and opportunities. The fund includes tuition credits and bursaries for students and tuition waivers for youth raised in the child welfare system.

How to help

The Opportunity Fund is supported by generous private and government donations. The goal of the University is to build a $10 million endowment fund.
