Biography:
Dr. Adey Mohamed is an educator and community practitioner whose work examines the intersections of displacement, belonging, and resilience. Her teaching and research integrate evidence-based scholarship with lived experience, reflecting a strong commitment to inclusive and supportive learning environments.
Dr. Mohamed teaches human rights with an emphasis on creating classroom spaces where students feel safe to ask questions and engage in critical dialogue. Her work centers refugee voices and explores how resilience is shaped by community, culture, and social systems.
Beyond the university, Dr. Mohamed works with Indigenous, refugee, and newcomer communities, focusing on culturally informed trauma treatment. She brings extensive experience as a clinician, researcher, and educator, supporting individuals, families, and communities navigating displacement, systemic inequities, gender disparities, racism, and intergenerational trauma.
Dr. Mohamed holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies (UofM) and is a graduate of the Joint-Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies (UofM, UWinnipeg). She holds a Bachelor of Social Work (UofM).
