Information Sheets for Autumn Graduands

Academic Dress

Your cap, gown, and hood will be available for you to order through Gaspard. Orders will be accepted beginning September 13.

Please use the following link – https://www.buildagrad.ca/uwinnipeg – to order. (Note: Do not go directly to Gaspard's website as it will not work. You must use this link.)

Once ordered, your Academic Dress will be available for you at the Robing Area on Convocation day at 8:00 am for the morning ceremonies or 1:00 pm for the afternoon ceremony. You are responsible for returning your gown and hood immediately following the ceremony. You will be able to keep your cap.

The deadline to order Academic Dress is October 3.

Absentia

If you are unable to attend convocation, you are required to request permission to receive your degree in absentia from the Student Records Office. A form for this purpose can be found at Student Central or on the Student Services website.

The Absentia form must be returned to convocation@uwinnipeg.ca before October 3. A $42.00 fee will be assessed if you do not fill out the form and are not present on the day of Convocation. If you have already submitted this form, please disregard.

Academic Procession

Friday, October 14 – 9:30 am
Degrees conferred in Arts, Business and Economics, Education, Kinesiology and Applied Health, Science, Master in Management, Master’s in Development Practice, Master of Marriage and Family Therapy

Procession cards will be mailed to the address provided in your application. If your card does not arrive before the ceremony, please see the Student Records table upon arrival in the Robing Area. The Academic Procession follows a route that involves quite a bit of walking and many stairs (some without hand rails). Please call 204.786.9745 if you feel this may be a concern and alternate procession arrangements can easily be made. Please note that due to the number of stairs we do not recommend you wear shoes with high heels.

All ceremonies will be webcast live online or on our YouTube Channel. The links will be posted to our website.

Procession Card

A card with your name and degree will be mailed to your before the ceremony. If the card does not arrive before the ceremony, please see the Student Records table in the Robing Area to be given a procession card. During the ceremony, you will present the card to the Registrar before you across the stage. He will use it to announce your name as you receive your degree.

Degree Frames and Gifts

Your degree and graduation photos are symbols of your academic success and hard work. Now, you can display them with pride in a University of Winnipeg frame. The Alumni Association is pleased to offer you a selection of high quality degree and portrait frames, Canadian-made and customized with the official University of Winnipeg crest. You can purchase Degree Frames on site throughout the day.

Your campus bookstore will be on site at convocation to sell souvenirs such as mugs, pens, portfolios, clothing, etc. The campus bookstore has also partnered with Convocation Flowers Inc. to sell a beautiful assortment of presentation bouquets. Representatives from this company will be present at convocation alongside the souvenir tables.

On the day of the event, there will be flower bouquets sold at the Duckworth Centre.
