"The Professor as Peacemaker" public lecture

Dr. Perry Bush is Chair of the Department of History and Religion at Bluffton University, Ohio. His public lecture, "The Professor as Peacemaker: C Henry Smith and the Mennonite Intellectual Tradition, 1918-1948," will be held on 22 May at 7 PM at the University of Winnipeg's Convocation Hall.

Dr. Bush received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon in 1990. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Zaporozhye National University (Ukraine) in 2012, and was awarded the Charles DeBenedetti Prize in Peace History in 2003-4. He is the author of Rust Belt Resistance: How a Small Community took on Big Oil and Won (Kent OH: Kent State University Press, 2012), Dancing with the Kobzar: Bluffton College and Mennonite Higher Education (Telford PA: Pandora Press, 2000), and Two Kingdoms, Two Loyalties: Mennonite Pacifism in Modern America (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 1998).

His forthcoming book is Peace, Progress, and the Professor: The Mennonite History of C. Henry Smith (Herald Press, 2015).
