Duff Roblin Award
The inaugural Duff Roblin Award was named in honour of and presented to The Honourable Duff Roblin in 2007. This prestigious award recognizes a recipients qualities as an outstanding Manitoban, a patron of education, and someone who demonstrates exemplary citizenship and life-long commitment to his or her community.
Roblin is a Signator to the 1967 Charter
Born and raised in Manitoba, Duff Roblin is a revered citizen, former Premier of Manitoba and former Senator. Roblin is a Signator to the 1967 Charter that created The University of Winnipeg. Roblin holds Honorary Degrees from The University of Winnipeg, McGill University, and The University of Manitoba. He also holds a Doctorate of Canon Law from St. Johns College.
Roblins commitment to education included restoring the use of French in Manitoba schools and increasing opportunities for Manitobans to obtain post-secondary education, which he himself values highly.
Advanced Education
By founding the Duff Roblin Award, The University of Winnipeg and its Foundation proudly recognize Dr. Roblin for his his life-long commitment to the community and advanced education in Manitoba.
The University of Winnipeg is delighted to pay tribute to Tom Jackson as the
2008 recipient of The Duff Roblin Award. The award was presented at the
Presidents Gala Dinner on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Hotel Fort Garry.
