Research Interests:
Dan Perlman is interested in multiple aspects of close relationships. He has especially contributed to the study of loneliness from a cognitive discrepancy perspective (i.e., loneliness stems from our having weaker relationships than our needs or desires for them). He has also traced the development of the field of close relationships and the study of loneliness drawing on citation evidence as a factor in formulating his depictions.
