In July, we were pleased to welcome Alina Moore as Administrative Assistant in the Deans' Office (Faculty of Arts). With a BA from UWinnipeg majoring in Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications, and minoring in Sociology, Alina says that she is thrilled to be back at the downtown campus.
In previous roles, Alina provided administrative support, project coordination, and writing and design expertise for various organizations in Winnipeg's academic and arts and culture sectors, including Portage & Main Press/HighWater Press, Plume Winnipeg (formerly Winnipeg International Writers Festival), Winnipeg VegFest, and the student journals Crossings and Rooted in Rhetoric.
According to Dr. Tracy Whalen, Dean of Arts, "Alina is a fabulous addition to the Deans of Arts' Office. Her experience working in arts and publishing communities in Winnipeg makes her well suited to our faculty and her positive, agentive disposition makes her a joy to work with!"
Alina shares that she "is deeply passionate about literature, music, and animal advocacy. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, cycling, reading, and playing a variety of musical instruments. She also finds joy in video games, comedy, and spending quality time with her partner and their cat. When not in Winnipeg, Alina often visits family and friends in her hometown of Gimli, Manitoba—nestled along the shores of Lake Winnipeg on Treaty 1 Territory."
In her new role, Alina "is looking forwarding to reconnecting and continuing to grow with the vibrant community at UWinnipeg and is eager to embrace new opportunities, foster meaningful connections, and contribute to the University's dynamic environment."
