New faculty member in 2021: Prof. Lise Raven

Fri. Dec. 3, 2021

The Faculty of Arts is pleased to welcome new faculty members in several departments this year including: Criminal Justice; English; History; Political Science; Psychology; Religion and Culture; Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications; Sociology; Theatre and Film; and Urban and Inner-City Studies.

We're asking each of our new faculty members to introduce themselves by providing us with a brief profile highlighting their research, a list of courses they'll teach, and a photo. That way we'll recognize them when we meet them in the halls on campus or in Zoom meetings online.

Prof. Lise Raven (Theatre & Film)

Speaking on behalf of the Department, Chair Christopher Brauer says, "we're thrilled [Lise Raven] has joined our department and are excited about the impact she’ll have on the film community here in Manitoba.” (Photo supplied)

Today we highlight Prof. Lise Raven, Instructor in film in the Department of Theatre and Film. Prof. Raven did her MFA specializing in film and video at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She brings a wealth of experience as a producer, director, and writer to UWinnipeg, experience which includes time spent in Berlin, Germany when she was awarded a presitigious residency in filmmaking.

Prof. Christopher Brauer, Chair of the Department of Theatre and Film, enthuses "Lise Raven is the full package: she is an incredibly well rounded filmmaker and educator - she directs, writes and is a tech whiz (!)." He adds, "she brings a wealth of teaching experience from universities in the U.S. We’re thrilled that she has joined our department and are excited about the impact she’ll have on the film community here in Manitoba."

Please join us all in welcoming Prof. Raven to the Faculty of Arts. And thank you to her for providing her profile info and photo.
