UW Theatre Dept season opener. Set in a lavish, upscale brothel, Jean
Genet's masterpiece is a political fantasy within a fantasy in
which all values are overturned. The play draws the audience into a
world of sexuality, violent revolution, and death. A bold political
statement and an exciting exploration of the possibilities of theatre,
this translation by B. Wright and T. Hands plays with the subtle line
between theatre and reality, and asks us to examine what power truly
is.
