Carol Shields Writer-in-Residence: Inaugural Reading of Jennifer Still

Tue. Jan. 20 02:30 PM - Tue. Jan. 20 04:00 PM
Location: Convoation Hall

The UWinnipeg English department is delighted to announce that Jennifer Still will be our tenth Carol Shields Writer-in-Residence, from Monday February 2 to Friday March 6, 2015. Jennifer Still is a poet, bookmaker, mentor, and editor. She is the author of two poetry collections, Girlwood and Saltations. Winner of the 2012 Banff Centre Bliss Carman Poetry Award and the 2012 John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Manitoba Writer, Jennifer was a mentor for the 2013 Banff Centre of the Arts Wired Writing Studio and is a poetry editor for the Winnipeg-based literary journal CV2. Jennifer’s third collection—in its final stitches—is a composition in ink and thread on a parchment scroll. With her fresh, original voice and her enthusiasm for mentoring emerging writers, Jennifer is a very welcome addition to our campus and the larger community. We anticipate her reading and her forthcoming residency with great excitement.

Come out to meet Jennifer Still at her Inaugural Reading, Tuesday, January 20, at 2:30 p.m., in Convocation Hall, at the University of Winnipeg. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome.
