With roots dating back to 1871, the University of Winnipeg is a vibrant centre for learning, research, and community engagement in the heart of downtown Winnipeg.   

The University’s 9,000 students benefit from dedicated and accessible faculty, exceptional research opportunities, and a welcoming campus community.    

Undergraduate and graduate programs are offered across six faculties, including several programs unique in Western Canada – such as the Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and the Master’s in Development Practice with a focus on Indigenous Development. In 2025, the University launched its first doctoral program, the PhD in Bioscience and Policy.  

The University also provides high school at university through the UW Collegiate and industry-aligned certificates and diplomas through its Professional, Applied and Continuing Education programs.

Meeting the Moment: Strategic Plan 2025-2030

The University of Winnipeg launched its new strategic plan for 2025-2030, Meeting the Moment, in October 2025. Developed through 18 months of extensive consultation, the plan lays a solid foundation to ensure the University is equipped to meet every challenge and opportunity in the years ahead.
