Quietly supporting UWinnipeg's vision

Randall Moffat graduated from The University of Winnipeg Collegiate in 1961, and was appointed a founding director of The University of Winnipeg Foundation Board in 2003.

As the former chairman of Moffat Communications Limited, his vision is credited with the tremendous expansion of the company over his 38-year career and he has also been a strong advocate for the advancement of women in the broadcasting industry.

Known as the “quiet philanthropist”, Moffat has made immeasurable contributions to the community, both financially and through volunteer service.

In 2001, the Moffat family created the $100 million Moffat Family Fund through the Winnipeg Foundation with a vision for “a Canadian society where all individuals have equal opportunities to develop their potential.” This fund supports a range of Canadian charitable projects and needs with priority given to innovative projects which directly benefit families with children.

The Moffats strongly believe in helping children and families from less advantaged communities. Moffat was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws by the University in 2007.
