GTHEO 7155/3 001 Topics in NT Studies: Jesus in Film
•Mon - Fri  Feb 19 – 23/18                 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location: 1MS25
Who do people say Jesus is? In the contemporary world, people’s answers are often informed by movies about Jesus. The filmmakers try to address many of the same interpretive questions as biblical scholars and preachers. Their answers tell us as much about contemporary society and issues of sexism, racism, antisemitism, and imperialism, as they do about the historical Jesus. This course involves watching and discussing a number of contemporary Jesus films.
