Registration Procedure for 2021-22:

      1. If you would like to discuss your qualifications, options, and the application procedure, contact THFM Student Advisor Melinda Tallin ( or 204-786-9955) who can help you figure out where you stand in terms of credit hours, requirements, time commitments, and so on.
      1. Prepare your materials for your application:
      • Sample of your work (required): You are required to submit ONE example of your work with your application.  The film you submit should demonstrate your abilities as a filmmaker.  Film credits must be included and your specific role must be stated in those credits.   Please provide ONE sample of your work as a film director via online delivery in the form below.   This can be Vimeo or Youtube. (If you are unsure of which platform to use, please ask.)
      • Grades (required): Your grades are an important part of the criteria considered in your application.  Please provide a statement of your grades, or give permission to the department to print your transcript as part of your application.
      • List of previous university Film courses and your instructors (required).
      • Letter or Statement (optional): You are invited to submit a letter or statement with the form indicating why you think you should be accepted into THFM-3310(6) Filmmaking II: Directing the Short Film. This is optional but may help your application.
      1. Complete the application form (see link below), including the appropriate checkmarks, links and passwords. Review your application before you submit.
      1. The Instructor will review all applications. You may be called for an interview with the Instructor; if necessary, this will be scheduled between June 22-24.  Once the review procedure is complete, the Instructor will make recommendations for acceptance into the course to the Chair.  A Waiting List may be established, at the discretion of the Chair and the Instructor.
      1. All candidates will be notified in early July whether or not they have been accepted into Filmmaking II. If you are accepted and indicate you will take the course, we will submit an electronic permission form to Registration on your behalf and notify you when it is in place.  You can then go into WebAdvisor and add this course on your assigned registration date/time.  If you are not able to register during your assigned time, your spot will be held for you.  However, if you decide not to take the course, please advise Melinda as soon as possible so the next person on the waiting list can be notified.
