The UW Sexual Misconduct Response Team (SMRT) is available to all students as am option for disclosing an incident of sexual misconduct. SMRT is a small team of senior front line staff members that oversees and coordinates services for individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct, been accused of sexual misconduct, or who are secondary victims. They’ll provide you with:

  • Options for immediate support, including the Klinic Sexual Assault Crisis Program;
  • Student services available for further support and follow up, including emotional support, safety, physical well-being, housing issues, academic scheduling or appeals;
  • Information and referrals to other services, such as the reporting process, options to report, and contact information if requested by the caller

The SMRT will provide you with the options, and where to find them, but it is your choice as the student who has experienced sexual misconduct as to which on-campus or community services you want to access.

Disclosing your experience of sexual misconduct to University and available supports does not require filing criminal charges. If you wish to report for criminal charges, SMRT can provide you with assistance to report.

If you received a disclosure, you are encouraged to direct the individual to call the SMRT line, and can contact them to ask about further supports available to you.

If you are a student who has been accused of sexual misconduct, you can also contact SMRT to discuss your options, supports and assistance, if needed.
