CIHR and SSHRC USRA Application Information Session

At present time, CIHR and SSHRC USRAs are exclusively for Black students. Last April, as part of Budget 2022, the federal government announced funding for the federal granting agencies to support targeted scholarships and fellowships for promising Black students. Applicants are hereby disclosing that they self-identify as Black and understand that this information will be shared with the institution to which they are applying and, if awarded, publicly.

The Research Office and Dr. Melanie Martin are hosting a presentation that is open to eligible students and supervisors that will offer guidance and advice on how to prepare a USRA application for both the SSHRC and CIHR funding agencies.

Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) are intended to:

Stimulate student interest in research
Encourage students to undertake graduate studies;
Encourage students to consider a career in research

The internal deadline for applications is 5pm March 15th 2023. Students and supervisors must submit their application by email to Dylan Jones, Program Officer, (d.jones@uwinnipeg.ca) in the Research Office.
