Mitacs-JSPS: Funding opportunity for graduate student mobility between Canada & Japan

Mitacs has partnered with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) to support student mobility between Canadian universities and Japanese universities and research institutes.   The Mitacs-JSPS competitive internship provides opportunities for graduate students in Canada to pursue 10-week collaborative research projects in Japan, allowing them to advance their research while promoting scientific progress in both Japan and Canada.

Program details:

  • Open to graduate students (masters and PhD), enrolled in full-time studies in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, to conduct a research project at an eligible university in Japan;
  • Open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents only;
  • Projects take place within a define period of time from June 14 to August 24, 2016 (10 weeks), including orientation;
  • JSPS will provide full funding to cover round trip airfare, insurance, maintenance allowance, and research allowance;
  • Call Cycle:
    • Call Open: November 18 2015
    • Call Close: January 29, 2016, at 5 p.m. PST.
    • Award announcement: April/May 2016
