NSERC Clarifications to guidelines on selecting the appropriate federal granting agency

Thu. Aug. 13, 2015

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has clarified its section of the guidelines for Selecting the Appropriate Federal Granting Agency to help applicants better identify the appropriate agency when applying for funding.

This clarification is the result of work done by an internal NSERC Mandate Working Group. The Group was tasked to ensure a consistent interpretation of NSERC’s mandate as it relates to life sciences research. The Group’s draft interpretation documents were presented to an external advisory committee in 2014 to obtain stakeholders’ perspectives.

Applicants with any questions on subject matter eligibility should contact NSERC in advance of submitting their application.

A new document, Addendum to the guidelines for the eligibility of applications related to health, with additional information and specific examples relating to subject matter eligibility, is now available.
