2017 Fall Fitness Programs!

The University of Winnipeg offers a variety of fitness classes all with top quality instruction, tailored to different skill levels. Fitness classes are for students, faculty, staff and the public - so no matter who you are - let us help you reach your health and fitness goals!
Please note: a Bill Wedlake Fitness Membership/Duckworth Centre Membership is NOT required to register for fitness program classes.

Fitness Classes:

  • Cardio Classes (like Bosu and Boot Camp)
  • Muscle Conditioning
  • Yoga
  • Zumba
  • Staff Fitness Circuit (for faculty, staff and students)
  • Special Monday class - Healthy Living for Older Adults (55+)

Most classes are offered over the noon-hour, Monday to Friday in the Multi-Purpose Room (2nd floor RecPlex). With your registration, take as many classes as you like - or you can choose the yoga only option and participate exclusively in the yoga classes.

A Bill Wedlake Fitness Membership/Duckworth Centre Membership is NOT required to register for fitness program classes.

Healthy Living for Older Adults (55+)

Offered on Mondays, this class develops important aspects of physical fitness, such as balance, strength, endurance and coordination for older adults, age 55+. These areas help maintain physical function and independence. It is taught in a group setting and is suitable for a wide range of abilities. The certified instructor is assisted by Kinesiology students. You'll be imiproving your fitness and helping our students gain practical experience. The class takes place in the Multi-purpose Room, 2nd floor of the RecPlex.  The Axworthy Health & RecPlex also has secure underground parking and an elevator, for added convenience. Fall class begins Monday, September 11th.

Staff Fitness Circuit (for Staff, Faculty & Students)

Current physical activity guidelines indicate that everyone should try to get a minimum of 150 minutes/week of moderate to vigorous physical activity.  Under the guidance of faculty from the Kinesiology Department, our Exercise Science students have designed a 45-50 minute training circuit for Students, Faculty and Staff which they are offering on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help increase physical activity on campus. We can all help provide both experiential learning for students and add vital minutes physical activity at a low cost! That's a win-win-win!
