CASL Anti-spam Information Session

Wed. Mar. 1 12:30 PM - Wed. Mar. 1 01:20 PM
Location: 3C30

Canada has enacted strong anti-spam legislation, known as CASL. This statute affects the transmission of commercial electronic messages (CEM) – which may include emails, texts and other direct messages – to individuals and other organizations.

Although CASL applies to educational institutions, including the University of Winnipeg, many of the messages sent by the University are not commercial in nature. Therefore, CASL does not apply to these messages. However, some University activities are likely to be considered commercial under the Act and will therefore attract CASL's requirements.

Dan Elves, Information and Privacy Officer, invites you to attend an information session on CASL. Topics of discussion will include CASL’s consent and content requirements and best practice guidelines for University business units to achieve compliance with the new legislation.

When: Wednesday, March 1 from 12:30 - 1:20 p.m.
Where: Room 3C30 (Third Floor, Centennial Hall)

Please RSVP by contacting Dan at or 204.988.7538. You may also arrange a private session for your office.
