UWinnipeg Physicists Set World Record

One year after setting a Canadian record for ultracold neutron (UCN) production, a team of UWinnipeg physicists – led by Dr. Jeff Martin, Dr. Russ Mammei, and Dr. Blair Jamieson – have smashed the world record by more than sevenfold.

The record is the result of a decade of research and development at TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre, where Dr. Martin is chair of the Science Council and leads the international TRIUMF Ultracold Advanced Neutron.
