The President's Scholarship for World Leaders will be given to international students who are entering any of the University's divisions for the first time.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must meet the all of following criteria:
- Be an international student
- Entering first year of any program/school
- Have a minimum of 80% admission average or equivalent
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities
- Admitted to the University by the scholarship deadline

IMPORTANT NOTES
1. All applicants must begin their application for admission first in order to be assigned a UWinnipeg student ID number. Please visit the Admissions page to begin your admission process or email welcome@uwinnipeg.ca.
2. You may only submit one application. It is important to make sure that all your information is accurate and all the required documents are included in your application package.

Applying for awards and AI text-generating tools
Just like writing an essay or taking a test, students must follow the principles of academic integrity when applying for awards (e.g., honesty, respect, fairness, and responsibility). Personal statements and declarations, reference letters, resumes/CV’s, or any other personal information submitted for an award, is expected to be in the student’s own voice and honestly reflect their experience, achievements and personal story. AI text-generating tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Bing, Notion AI) should not be used to create or falsely embellish any information submitted for an award. Using AI text-generating tools for functional purposes (e.g. editing original prose, improving grammar/punctuation, translating words) is permitted, as long as its use is acknowledged by the student. An informal statement should be included at the end of each submitted document to acknowledge the use of AI text-generating tools, if applicable (e.g., at the end of the personal statement: “ChatGPT used for grammar/punctuation”). It is not recommended to include private or confidential information when using a Generative AI tool as it may become part of the Large Language Model being used and, therefore, potentially available to others. If students are unsure whether their use of AI tools is acceptable for an award application, they should consult with the Awards and Financial Aid office for advice. We will be happy to help.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
1. References - two letters of reference are required with this application. Reference letters should be from people who can speak to your extra-curricular/volunteer activities. Please provide the emails of your referees in the fields below. It is preferred that your reference letter is printed on the official letterhead of the organization and/or includes inked signature/stamp of the referee.
2. Personal Statement - a 250–500-word statement outlining your leadership qualities, extra-curricular/volunteer involvement, and academic goals.
3. Resumé/Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) - a chronological list of your extra-curricular/volunteer activities, work experience, awards, publications, etc.
NOTE: All submitted documents must be in English or have English translation.
