Ins Choi is an actor and a playwright who was born in South Korea,
grew up in Scarborough and now resides in Toronto with his lovely wife
and their two children. Some of his acting credits include Kim’s
Convenience, Alligator Pie, (re)birth: ee cummings in song, Death of a
Salesman(Soulpepper), Hamlet, The Odyssey (Stratford), Banana Boys
(fuGEN), The Big Picture, 2000 Candles (Brookstone). As a playwright,
his debut play, Kim's Convenience, won the Best New Play award
and the Patron's Pick at the 2011 Toronto Fringe festival. It
then launched Soulpepper theatre company's 2012 season receiving
the Toronto Theatre Critics award for Best Canadian Play. It was then
published by House of Anansi Press and is currently touring across
Canada. It is being developed for film and tv in a partnership with
Soulpepper and Thunderbird Films. Ins will be performing his solo show
entitled, Subway Stations of the Cross, at St. Margaret’s Church in
Winnipeg on March 23rd, 8pm.
