The Community Foundations of Canada (CFC), the Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF) and Universities Canada (UnivCan) have announced that The University of Winnipeg has been awarded a highly competitve grant of $825,000 to establish a scholarship program designed to develop global citizens through enriched academic, professional, and cross-cultural experiences. To read the full news release from the University of Winnipeg, see here and for more information on the program, see here.

The Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships (QES) is managed through a unique partnership of Universities Canada, the Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF), Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) and Canadian universities. This program is made possible with the financial support from the Government of Canada, provincial governments and the private sector.

There are several components to the Queen Elizabeth scholarship program. First, scholarships will be awarded to students from Commonwealth countries to pursue graduate study at UWinnipeg. The value of these awards for incoming scholars will range from $25,000 to $30,000 per annum. Second, awards valued at $6,000 will be given to UWinnipeg students for research, scholarships or internships in other Commonwealth countries for a three to six month period. All Queen Elizabeth scholars will participate in a range of activities designed to allow them to integrate their academic learning with broader cross-cultural experiences.

Participation in leadership events, community engagement activities, and the network of QE scholars is expected of all scholarship winners.
