On behalf of the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program’s faculty, staff and instructors, I would like to extend HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our 2020 graduates!
You survived a long and rigorous education and clinical training. I know you have many stories to tell about your journey, and we have stories too. These are stories about you becoming therapists. One of the stories that we are going to remember is that you are the group of students who learned to provide tele-therapy in a matter of a few weeks, while the entire MFT field was skeptical about distance therapy, and you proved that it works! There is no stopping you now. Some of you have already begun the next chapter, while others are taking time to reflect on this chapter. You are joining the MMFT alumni community of dedicated helping professionals who are making a difference in people’s lives and expanding our profession in Manitoba and beyond. This is not how we wanted to send you off, but the COVID-19 pandemic gave us an opportunity to reflect on how we maintain and foster connections in a drastically changing world, forcing us to be distant from each other. Remember, this is your home, the MMFT home. We look forward to hearing from you. We wish you the very best on your journey!
