HR-SAMP Information, Terms, and Conditions

Student-Alumni Mentorship Program (HR-SAMP)

Mentors and mentees will:

  • Contact and establish a meeting time and method that works for them both.
    • Initial contact can be done via email, phone call, or text (whatever works best for both parties).
    • Methods (given the Covid-19 Pandemic and public health orders) can include zoom, skype, facetime, phone call, among other means that are agreed upon.
  • Be given the contact information of the partner they were paired with by Global College. It is entirely up to the mentor or mentee to initiate contact and establish the method that they will use to meet.
  • Establish the frequency that the mentors and mentees will meet. For example, mentors and mentees may decide to only meet once, may decide to meet biweekly, or may decide to meet on a monthly basis. This is entirely to the discretion of the mentors and mentees. However, maintaining commitments to the contacted parties is crucial to the program.
  • Contact Global College via email if they want to begin mentorship with a different mentor or mentee (with a provided reason) OR if they want to be removed from the program list entirely.
  • Maintain communication with Global College as per needed. Termination from the program can ensue from inappropriate or unprofessional behaviour.

For Students (Mentees)

  • Who can participate in HR-SAMP? Human Rights students at the Global College and students considering the Human Rights program at Global College.
  • Why participate in HR-SAMP? Connect with graduates from Global College’s Human Rights program and learn about their experiences, advice, and insight!
  • What to ask a HR-SAMP mentor? This is to the mentee’s discretion. Making a list prior to the meeting of potential questions or topics of interest can help. Please keep discussion or questions to what is relevant and appropriate. For example, the Human Rights program, university, future career goals, ambitions, among other similar topics. Listen and discuss without judgement!

For Alumni (Mentors)

  • Who can participate in HR-SAMP? All Global College graduates.
  • Why participate in HR-SAMP? Connect with Global College students and provide guidance, knowledge, or experiences in a rewarding and fulfilling volunteer experience.
  • What to discuss with a HR-SAMP mentee? This is to the mentor’s discretion. Please keep discussion or questions to what is relevant and appropriate. For example, what was pursued after a Human Rights degree, achievements, advice, personal goals, among many other similar topics. Listen and discuss without judgement!
