About:
Dr. Athar Ata is a professor chemistry at The University of Winnipeg. He obtained his PhD in 1996 from the University of Karachi in Pakistan, and completed postdoctoral studies at both The Hussain Ebrahim Jamal Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, and Florida Atlantic University.
Ata's main research interests are the isolation of new pharmaceutical agents from marine organisms, microorganisms and traditional medicinal plants, as well as the biosynthesis of natural products and microbial transformations of bioactive natural products.
