Candida Rifkind awarded Comics Studies Society book award

Dr. Candida Rifkind and her co-author, Dr. Dominic Davies, won the 2026 Comics Studies Society’s Charles Hatfield Book Prize for best scholarly work to advance the field of comics studies.

Published in June 2025 by Wilfrid Laurier University Press, Graphic Refuge: Visuality and Mobility in Refugee Comics was the judges’ unanimous choice for the prize, noting the book offers “a timely and necessary perspective on a field that is especially urgent given the current political moment.”
