Dr. Lauren Chochinov completed her BA(Hons) and MA at the University of Manitoba, and her PhD at the University of Edinburgh. Her dissertation focused on the role of Sir Gawain in the literature of late medieval England and Scotland. Her current research focuses on the loathly lady motif as it relates to late medieval Arthurian literature, Arthurian literature in Scotland, and numerous topics relating to Sir Thomas Malory’s “Tale of Gareth.” In addition, she has an ongoing fascination with both graphic novels and nineteenth-century gothic literature, which has led to her latest research topic: the subversion of the nineteenth-century female vampire archetype in Marguerite Bennett’s InSeXts (2015). When not teaching medieval literature, she especially loves reading and teaching gothic literature, graphic novels, horror fiction, and zombie apocalypse exit strategies.
