Thursday, March 2

Fund-raising dinner with guest speaker Katherena Vermette

Tickets $40 (students $25) available from Catherine at c.hunter@uwinnipeg.ca

5:30 appetizers and cash bar.  6:30 buffet dinner.  7:00 keynote speech.

Riddell Hall, the University of Winnipeg.

This is a fund-raiser for the UW’s Carol Shields Writer-in-Residence Program.

 

Friday, March 3

Panels, Readings, Workshops

All Friday & Saturday events are free and take place in 2M70 (2nd floor of Manitoba Hall, UW).

10:00-10:30 -- coffee

10:30-12 noon -- The Poetic Line, a panel moderated by Jenny Wills with poets Méira Cook, Colin Smith, Hannah Green, and J. Robert Ferguson

12 noon-1:30 -- lunch on your own

1:30-3:00-- Stretching the Line, a poetry workshop with Jennifer Still (space is limited, so register early*)

3:30-4:30 -- Readings by poets Steven Ross Smith and Garry Thomas Morse

5:00-6:30 -- Opportunities for Writers, a panel about the writing life with arts professionals Martine Friesen, Clarise Foster, Charlene Diehl, Steven Ross Smith, Lindsey Childs, and Andrew Eastman

 

Saturday March 4

All Friday & Saturday events are free and take place in 2M70 (2nd floor of Manitoba Hall, UW).

9:00-10:30 -- Bringing Your Stories to Life: Vocal and Physical Delivery, a voice workshop with Tom Soares (space is limited, so register early*)

11:00-12:30 -- Character in Every Line, a fiction workshop with Joan Thomas (space is limited, so register early*)

12:30-1:30 -- coffee and light snacks provided in 2M70

1:30-3:00 -- Fiction/Nonfiction: What’s the Diff? a panel moderated by Lara Rae with writers Maurice Mierau, David Alexander Robertson, and Ginny Collins

3:30-5:00 -- Writing Dialogue: Playwriting Techniques for Creating Scenes in Prose or Poetry, a workshop with playwright Rick Chafe (space is limited, so register early*)

7:00 -- Open Mike, hosted by Molly Cross-Blanchard

To read at the open mike, please sign up. Sign-up begins at 6:45. Readings at 7:00.
