Professional Development Series: 2026-2027
The CRiCS Professional Development Series is a series of workshops intended for members of the centre (researchers, students in the Cultural Studies MA program, research assistants) to gain new skills in a variety of different professional areas related to Cultural Studies and Cultural Studies research. The sessions for the 2026-2027 academic year include:
"Research Funding Session"
Session facilitators: Lauren Bosc
Date: 1 September, 12.30-1.30pm
This session will introduce CRiCS members to the University of Winnipeg's internal research grants and how they fit into a faculty member's broader funding strategy. We'll cover how internal grants can fit within a researcher’s larger research plan toward generating the preliminary data, pilot results, or proof of concept needed to strengthen applications to Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) and other external competitions. Attendees will also learn how to use internal funding strategically as bridge support to maintain research momentum between larger grant cycles and to support their work with CRiCS.
