What do I do if I have upcoming travel/research plans?

All university-related, non-essential travel is suspended.

Refer to Health Canada, Global Affairs Canada and Canada Travel for ongoing travel advisory updates to inform your planning.

Discuss travel plans with your department Chair / supervisor and assess any health, environmental, civil, legal, or any other risks you may encounter.  Specifically, identify the predominant risks that you will encounter, analyze the exposure to the risk, and identify actions and precautions you can take to prevent or decrease impacts.

What do I do if I have upcoming, personal travel plans?

Contact Blue Cross to confirm the area you want to travel to is currently covered under your health travel insurance plan. From Winnipeg, call 204.775.0151 (8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. weekdays)

What do I do if I am already travelling abroad on University business?

Staff, faculty and students already abroad on University business should contact their supervisor to discuss whether they should return home and what precautions they are to take once back in Winnipeg.

Is self-isolation required if I am returning from travel?

Follow the Advice for Travelers and Contacts of COVID-19 Cases provided by Manitoba’s provincial medical health officer.

You may wish to access the Manitoba COVID-19 screening tool posted online by Shared Health Manitoba. 

All members of the community returning from a jurisdiction with an active travel health notice from the Government of Canada, whether the travel was business or personal travel, are expected to take reasonable steps to prevent exposing our community to risk.
