Campus Activity Requests

The University of Winnipeg campus is closed to the general public until Fall 2022. Individuals wishing to host events, meetings, or other gatherings can refer to the below information if seeking to request access to campus spaces for various activities. Space(s) will be assigned at the discretion of the Events, Academic Scheduling, and Recreation Services Offices.

Campus is open to students, faculty, and staff from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm daily, Monday through Friday. After 5:00 pm and on weekends, the main campus is only accessible via the front entrance of Centennial Hall. Students, faculty, and staff should be prepared to show ID to gain entry to campus.

Event Type

Campus visitors (related to research and learning)

Action: While we continue to monitor access to campus, we also recognize that there are many important teaching or research activities that are dependent on having individuals who are not employees of UW attend campus for classes, lectures, research meetings, co-curricular and other research and teaching related activities. To request access for a campus visitor related to teaching and research, please complete and submit this access form at least 5 business days prior to date of visit.

Additional Information: Requestors will be required to coordinate the logistics (approval process and obtaining visitor passes) for individuals they invite. Visitor passes may be acquired through the Security Office just inside the Centennial Hall entrance. 

Any event(s) involving members of the public

Action: Requests for external events should be made to the returntocampus@uwinnipeg.ca email with events@uwinnipeg.ca cc’d on the request.

Additional Information: The University of Winnipeg is closed to the public until Fall 2022. Event(s) should be held on a remote platform (i.e. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) until the university is open to the public.

Student(s) requesting a room to study

Action: Requests will not be approved (except for group study room noted below).

Additional Information: Students can book a group study room (max. 2 people) in the library here.

Students can use the Library’s non-quiet areas to attend synchronous classes on their personal devices with the use of headphones, space is limited.

Students can use the Uplink Lab (4C32B) to attend asynchronous classes with the use of their personal headphones.

The Library's quiet areas can be used for studying purposes or the viewing of asynchronous courses and lectures (with headphones) where no speaking is required.

Student(s) wanting to book a table for bake sales, etc

Action: Requests will not be approved.

Department Meetings

Action: Requests will be approved. Departments are encouraged to have a remote attendance option. Individuals attending in person are encouraged to social distance in the space provided.

Additional Information: Departments can request space through the booking form at this link. Meeting spaces will be assigned based on the buildings that are currently open for the fall term.

Student Group Meeting

Action: Requests will be approved. Student(s) are to use the room for the time allotted on their booking only. Students who linger or remain in the room after any meetings will have their remaining bookings in the space canceled and not reinstated for the term.

Student Lounges

Action: Shall remain closed. Departments must contact Health and Safety to determine safety requirements for these spaces. The lounge can open with the approval of Health and Safety. Students are expected to respect the space of others and adhere to safety requirements.

Guest speakers for meetings, seminars, and events

Action: Requests for external guest speakers will not be approved, unless they are directly related to UWinnipeg teaching or research activities. Such requests may be made via the form available under the above heading "Campus visitors (related to research and learning)."
