Biography:

Esther is from Ghana, and she moved to Winnipeg quite recently. Her academic and professional background is in business and human resources. She has worked for 13 years in the business field, having much experience in customer relationship building. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Development Practice (in Indigenous Development) at the University of Winnipeg. Esther has an avid interest in community engagement and youth development.  In her free time, she loves watching movies and reading.

Her love for community engagement and development and her belief in the self-reliance of communities, is what made Esther join this project. Cooperatives bring together communities to meet a need, and the generated profit often gets used for community development purposes.

Esther believes co-operative enterprises will be a strong force in the near future. However, there is a lot of work to be done for that to happen. For instance, there needs to be more publication on activities of co-operatives in order to create necessary awareness, as the average person doesn’t know what co-operatives are about. There is also a need to create more awareness through an active presence in the social media.
