Located in Winnipeg's downtown, UWinnipeg is committed to offering opportunities to the wide diversity of youth and families who live in the inner city.

About The RecPlex

The multi-sport Axworthy Health & RecPlex to helps to alleviate the chronic shortage of indoor recreational space in Winnipeg, enhances the UWinnipeg student experience and offers neighbourhood youth and residents unsurpassed recreational opportunities and new health services.

The RecPlex accommodates a 50.5 by 90-metre soccer field, which meets minimum FIFA standard.

The RecPlex provides new indoor training and practice space for all Wesmen teams, in particular the soccer teams. The Wesmen Soccer teams play in the Canada West conference, one of four conferences within Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). CIS soccer games and tournaments are played outdoors during the soccer season, from late August to October.

The state-of-the-art, indoor green space accommodates a multitude of sports such as soccer, flag football and track and field, as well as cultural and community events. The Health & RecPlex includes:
  • a large multi-use artificial turf field with three cross-fields
  • a four-lane 60-meter rubberized sprint track 
  • a community gym 
  • retractable batting cages 
  • the Thomas Sill Community Multi-Purpose Room
  • a dance/yoga studio 
  • food and beverage kiosks 
  • an underground parkade that can accommodate 189 vehicles
