Women's & Gender Studies
Jennifer deGroot

A long time ago I studied
philosophy. Since then I've worked in international development, as a farmer,
and as the director of the women's organization UNPAC. These days I spend my
time playing with my two little boys, preparing food, washing dishes, chopping
firewood and growing food. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to put
together my book of knowledge and lived experiences of food in the "Food Cultures,
Sex and Gender" course. I was one of the organizers of 100 Mile Manitoba and am
the co-chair of Migrant Worker Solidarity Network. I have learned much from my
extensive travels abroad and am committed to using a popular education approach
in teaching. My family and I live and farm near Morden, Manitoba.
