WESTWOOD  PLAYER COMMITS TO WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM

Tuesday, March 17, 2009 – The University of Winnipeg and Women’s Volleyball Head coach Diane Scott is pleased to announce that Sonia Rossy has committed to the University of Winnipeg Women’s Volleyball Team for 2009.

Sonia Rossy is a 5'10" Left Side Attacker, with a solid work ethic and competitive attitude. Sonia is a former multi-sport athlete, now her main sport focus is volleyball. Her intensity and leadership have helped her teams to succeed at all levels, her skills, work ethic and Agamer@ mentality makes a team complete. Sonia=s Westwood Warriors were MHSAA High School Girl=s 4A Provincial Finalists in 2007 and 2008. Sonia has been a member of multiple championship teams through her club and Provincial Team programs, where she has received many All-Star and MVP honors.  She is a member of the Westwood Collegiate Grad Fashion Show Committee and a member of the Jr Wesmen Girl=s Volleyball 18U club team. Sonia maintains a 75% academic average.

“We are very pleased to have Sonia join our program, her work ethic and competitive nature on the court combined with her disciplined training off the court are important to a team environment. Sonia understands hard work, she thrives on the opportunity to prove herself and loves to compete and willing to do whatever it takes to win”, said Wesmen Head Coach Diane Scott.

“Sonia Rossy is a competitor in the true sense of the word. She is one of the hardest swinging left side players in the province! Her consistent passing and accurate serving gave our team a chance to beat any high school in western Canada this past season. Sonia was a true pleasure to work with for three years and I will miss having her on my team”, stated Westwood Head Coach JJ Ross.
