WESMEN FINISH BOB FM SHOOT-OUT UNDEFEATED
The Winnipeg Wesmen finished the BOB FM Shoot-Out undefeated after they defeated the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 79-67 Sunday afternoon at the Duckworth Centre. The Wesmen stormed out of the gate early as they built a 7-0 lead before the game was three minutes old. Winnipeg used a combination of tight defense and timely baskets to take a 36-27 lead into the locker room at halftime. In the second half the Wesmen once again came out on fire as they went on a 9-2 run in the first three minutes to expand their lead to 45-29. Lethbridge would not give up as they relied on the three-point shot to get to within seven points of the Wesmen. But down the stretch the Wesmen scored baskets and sank free-throws when they needed to and were able to celebrate the victory. As they have relied on all tournament Uzo Asagwara was the catalyst of the Wesmen attack as she finished with a game high 28 points to lead the Wesmen to victory. Asagwara was named both the MVP and a tournament all-star. Stephanie Timmersman of the Wesmen, Jessica Lynch(Lethbridge), Tara Boyce(Lakehead) and Lara Schmidt (Regina) rounded out the all-stars.

WESMEN UNDEFEATED AT BOB FM SHOOT-OUT
The Wesmen defeated the University of Regina Cougars 62-54 Saturday evening to improve their record to 2-0 at the BOB FM Shoot-Out at the Duckworth Centre. The game started out slowly for both teams as missed opportunities and air-tight defense were the name of the game in the first half. The Wesmen relied on Uzo Asagwara's 11 points in the first half to built a 28-19 lead at halftime. The second half was a completely different story as both teams found their mark by connecting on over 50% of their shots from the field. The Wesmen got key baskets from Asagwara and Stephanie Timmersman to build a 50-28 lead midway thru the second half. The Cougars being the tough team they are never gave up as they closed the Wesmen lead to single digits on several occassions,but the Wesmen stood tough and came away with the victory. Fourth year guard Uzo Asagwara once again led the Wesmen in scoring with 22 points, while Rosseau,Minnesota native Stefanie Timmersman scored 17 points. The Wesmen will next see action on Sunday afternoon as they face the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. Game time at the Duckworth Centre is 1:00 p.m.

WESMEN WIN BOB FM OPENER
The Wesmen defeated the Lakehead University Thunderwolves 76-63 in the opening game of the BOB FM Shoot-Out Friday night at the Duckworth Centre. The Wesmen relied on pin-point shooting and great work under the glass to capture the victory. The team shot 52% from the field and outrebounded the Wolves 31-27. Fourth year guard Uzo Asagwara led the Wesmen with 21 points and first year guard Randie Gibson had an impressive debut scoring 18 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the three point line." Uzo was outstanding, she created opportunities for Randie and she took advantage of them, said Wesmen Head Coach Tanya McKay. The Wesmen will face the Regina Cougars at 6:15 Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre.
