GENERAL WESMEN NEWS:
MBCI PLACES FIRST AT WESMEN INVITATIONAL
The 2009 Wesmen Invitational Varsity Boy’s Volleyball Tournament took place last week at the Duckworth Centre. The three-day tournament featured an impressive 22 teams from across Winnipeg, Manitoba and Ontario. The team from M.B.C.I. captured first place for the second consecutive year defeating St.Pauls (25-10, 25-21) in the finals. The team from Miles Mac finished in third place defeating Steinbach (25-20, 25-19). Devin Plett and Evan Jackson (M.B.C.I) were named co -tournament M.V.P’s. Congratulations to Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Larry McKay for organizing a successful tournament once again. A special thank you to the members of the men’s volleyball teams for their participation in officiating and scorekeeping the matches.
VOLLEYBALL COACHING SEMINAR A GREAT SUCCESS
The 2009 University of Winnipeg Volleyball Coaching seminar was held this past Friday at the Duckworth Centre. The seminar was highlighted by feature presenters Doug Reimer (Head Coach UBC Women’s Team, back to back CIS Championships) and Arnd Ludwig (Head Coach National Women’s Volleyball Team). The seminar was a great success and well attended by volleyball coaches from across Southern Manitoba.
MEN'S BASKETBALL FINISH IN SECOND AT ANNUAL ROCK CLIMB
Congratulations to members of the men's basketball team for finishing in second place at the this past Friday's 38th Annual Great Rock Climb. The team consisting of Chris Jordan, Justin Phillips and Moses Ma scaled the rock in a time of 28 seconds.

COMMUNITY NEWS:
This coming week, The Jr Wesmen GVB 18U Team will be presenting the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba with a $2000 donation won on their behalf at the Best of the West Volleyball Tournament back in March in Calgary.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Men’s basketball team recently completed there second week of practices in preparation for the 2009-2010 Canada West season. Head Coach Dave Crook still has some decisions to make in regards to his final roster for the season. The team will look to impress the coaching staff in their annual Intersquad game on Wednesday night at the Duckworth Centre. The festivities begin with the annual potluck dinner, followed by the game at 7:30 p.m.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Head Coach Tanya McKay will get a chance to see her squad in game action this Wednesday evening at the annual Intersquad game/reception at the Duckworth Centre. This year’s team is a veteran group who are expected to do great things in the Canada West Conference this season.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Head Coach Larry McKay continues to put his team thru the beginning phases of practices in preparation for the upcoming Canada West season. The coach has several veterans and an impressive group of recruits in camp at the moment looking for a spot on the 2009-2010 rosters. The team will take part in the annual intersquad match on Tuesday night at the Duckworth Centre beginning at 7:30 p.m.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Wesmen Women’s volleyball team roster is just about set for the 2009-2010 season. Head Coach Diane Scott is excited about her team which features a nice combination of veterans and first year recruits. The team will hit the court for the annual intersquad match on Tuesday evening at the Duckworth Centre. Matches begin at 7:30 p.m.
