Marc, third year outside hitter was one of the top Wesmen players at this past weekends University of Regina Invitational Tournament. Ross led the Wesmen with 45 total kills in the five matches.

19TH ANNUAL DUCKWORTH CHALLENGE RECAP
The 19th Annual Duckworth Challenge took place this past week. Last Tuesday evening at the Duckworth Centre the volleyball portion of the Challenge took place. In the womens match the Bisons defeated the Wesmen 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-21). Second year left side Ariel Smith was named the Winnipeg Duckworth Challenge Player of the Match. In the mens match Manitoba edged the Wesmen 3-2 (17-25, 22-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-13). Fourth year middle Justin Duff was named the Winnipeg Duckworth Challenge Player of the Match. On Wednesday night the scene shifted to the University of Manitoba for the basketball portion. In the womens game the Wesmen suffered an 88-69 loss to the Bisons. Fourth year guard Catie Gooch was named the Winnipeg Duckworth Challenge Player of the Game. In the mens game the Bisons defeated the Wesmen 77-71. First year Wesmen Craig Penniston was named the Winnipeg Duckworth Challenge Player of the Game.
GET TOGETHER, GET ACTIVE AT UWINNIPEG
On Wednesday afternoon, Oct 21st, over 150 students from the grades 4, 5, 6 classes of Sister McNamara will be our guests for Get Together, Get Active @ UWinnipeg! Smaller groups of 10 elementary students will be led through various activity/educational stations set up in the Duckworth Centre. The children will be instructed by University students and student athletes and have the opportunity to try a variety of sports ranging from soccer and juggling to racquet sports and basketball. One of the activities will be a 'rest area' where, for example, they can watch the men's or women's volleyball practice. We are delighted to introduce and involve children from our community to fun and fitness at UWinnipeg.
BASKETBALL CLINIC AT ROSSBROOK HOUSE OCT 17
Members of the Wesmen Basketball teams will be putting on a special clinic for children from the Rossbrook House on Saturday October 17. The clinic will take place at the Victoria Albert School from 1:45 4:00 p.m.
BASKETBALL MANITOBA SUPER COACHES CLINIC COMING OCT 23-24
Basketball Manitoba, the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg are excited to announce the details the first annual 'Super Coaches Clinic' weekend scheduled for October 23-24 at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre. The clinic comes as a partnership with the University of Manitoba Bisons and University of Winnipeg Wesmen as a joint offering to the basketball community.
The clinic will run at the same time as the province wide 'SAG' in-service day on Friday October 23. The WMBA has also paused all league games this weekend to ensure each coach can attend and is covering the cost for all its league coaches to attend the sessions. The clinic features 14 different presentations over the two days and features a wide range of topics for all levels of basketball. Register today for Manitoba's premier basketball coaching event.
DIG, SET, SERVE, PASS, SPIKE VOLLEYBALL SKILLS CLINICS
Volleyball skills clinics for girls and boys, grades 7-12 are being offered at the University of Winnipeg from October through December. Naoki Miyashita, former Head Coach of the Canadian Women's National Team and current Wesmen Assistant Coach will be the instructor. MENS BASKETBALL PREPARE TO HOST PEMBINA CHRYSLER INVITATIONAL
Head Coach Dave Crook and his team will challenge teams from Concordia and Laurentian in the Pembina Chrysler Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24th at the Duckworth Centre.
WOMENS BASKETBALL SPLIT BOB FM SHOOTOUT
The womens basketball team split their two game series against Lakehead University at the BOB FM Shootout this past Friday and Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre. In Fridays opening game the Thunderwolves defeated the Wesmen 67-63 .Winnipeg gained a split in the series on Saturday as Amy Ogidan scored a game high 30 points to lead the Wesmen to a 79-72 win.
MENS VOLLEYBALL FINISH FOURTH IN REGINA
The Wesmen wrapped up a busy week with a fourth place finish at the University of Regina Invitational Tournament. In Fridays opening match the Wesmen defeated Saskatchewan 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-22). In Fridays evening match the Wesmen improved their record to 2-0 sweeping Mount Royal University 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-23). On day two the Alberta Golden Bears handed the Wesmen their first loss with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-14). Winnipeg finished the preliminary round with a record of 2-1 and faced the Manitoba Bisons in the semi-finals on Saturday night. The Bisons defeated the Wesmen 3-1 (25-13, 26-24, 20-25, 25-22). The semi final loss put the team into the third place match against the Calgary Dinos on Sunday afternoon. The Dinos defeated the Wesmen 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 26-24) to wrap up the tournament.
